Contractors see their own pay and earnings without access to agency financials. Toggl documents billable rates and reporting, with capabilities dependent on the plan. When Toggl Track is the stronger fit

Stay with Toggl Track when its app coverage, reports, and existing team workflows already meet your needs. Track supports creating invoices from reports, with plan-dependent features. Distinguish Track from Toggl 2.0, the newer planning-and-tracking product: Toggl says Track remains supported, with no forced migration or announced sunset date. TrackTimer is worth evaluating when you want an agency workspace organized around clients, assigned projects, and separate pay and billing rates. Check the specific product and plan behind any feature claim.

What you can import from Toggl Track

TrackTimer has a Toggl Track setup importer. Connect with a Track workspace administrator's API token, then review clients, active projects, and member access before applying the mappings. Match existing TrackTimer clients and projects or create new ones. Invitations are a separate, explicit step. The importer reads from Toggl Track without changing or deleting source data. It does not connect to Toggl 2.0 and is not an ongoing sync. Historical time entries do not import. Tasks, tags, rates, budgets, invoices, and archived projects also stay behind. Set TrackTimer rates and permissions deliberately, keep your historical records available, and choose a date for recording new work. If you need all past and future time in one reporting system, this setup importer does not meet that requirement.

A useful trial for an agency

Run one representative client project through your shortlist. Include billable production work, an internal meeting, a corrected entry, and a contractor. Review who can see the financial totals and how those hours reach your billing process. Use the setup importer for the clients and active projects you need, then verify member access and rates. Keep an accessible export of historical records and check the first reporting period on each side of your switch date before moving the rest of the team.
